How it works
Search for the appointment you need, a vaccine for example.
Locations are sorted from nearest to farthest, based on your position or your postal code.
As soon as an opening is available, day or night, you get a notification. Tap it to open the official booking page and book right away: openings go fast.
Why SpotOwl
I needed an appointment for a medical test on ClicSanté. Not a single opening, and no way of knowing when new ones would be added. I refreshed the page several times a day, hoping to catch the right moment. I built SpotOwl so I would not have to do that anymore, and so you would not either.
The service is free for everyone. It is funded by voluntary contributions from the people it has helped.
No name, no email, no phone number: your alerts are simply tied to your cell phone. You can erase all your information at any time, from the app.
SpotOwl is not affiliated with any booking platform. We alert you, you book, just like before.
Everything is designed not to overload the platforms: we check them sparingly, for minimal impact.
We alert you as soon as an opening is spotted, but we never book for you and we cannot guarantee you will get it: someone else may book it before you.
In an emergency, do not wait for a notification: call emergency services, 911 in Canada.

Yes. The app is free, with no in-app payments at all. The service is funded by voluntary contributions from its users, on this website, with nothing in return.
For now, ClicSanté, in Quebec, for its no-fee services. More platforms will be added, in the same app, and your help matters to find them: if you are waiting for an opening elsewhere too, suggest the platform.
No, never. The notification opens the official booking page; you are the one who books, directly on the platform.
The bare minimum: your alerts and what is needed to send you notifications, tied to an anonymous installation. Your position is only used to find nearby locations: it is never kept. You can erase everything from the app.
No, but allow notifications: that is the whole point of SpotOwl. Without them, you get no notifications: you have to open the app to see if an opening is available, and openings go fast.
Up to 5 active alerts for now. An alert is one service at one specific location: you can follow the same service at several locations, or several services at the same location. For example, a vaccine at three different CLSCs, or a vaccine and a blood test at the same CLSC. You can pause or delete an alert at any time.

No perks in the app in return: the service is the same for everyone. SpotOwl is run by an individual: no tax receipt is issued.
To spot means to notice, and a spot is a place: SpotOwl spots available openings for you. And the owl keeps watch while others sleep.
Our logo is a spotted owl, an owl from western North America: a round head with no ear tufts, plumage spotted with white… and, in our version, a yellow spot that lights up when an opening is available.
